Introduction to this program
The Mt. Fuji International Opera Competition of Shizuoka (held every three years) began in 1996 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of MIURA Tamaki, a prima donna associated with Shizuoka Prefecture who was active on the world stage in the first half of the 20th century. Its 9th edition was held from October 28 to November 5, 2023.
This program will tell you a lot about the Mt. Fuji Opera, which aims to discover young and talented singers in the field of vocal music and to create ″Shizuoka Culture″ through international exchange.
There were 271 applicants from 33 countries and regions this time. The First Prize was awarded to Mr. PARK Samuel from South Korea, and the MIURA Tamaki Special Prize for a Japanese national with great potential was given to Ms. YAMASHITA Hiroka.
