Puccini's "Il Tabarro" was composed as a trilogy, combined with "Suor Angelica" and "Gianni Schicchi," and premiered at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in 1918.
The first of the trilogy, " Il Tabarro," has its setting in Paris in the 1910s. However, the story is enough to be familiar even nowadays. It is a love-hate drama about the captain of a carrier ship on the Seine River, his young wife, and a young man who works on the ship. You see what "Il Tabarro" stands for in this opera.
YOSHIDA Tamayo will perform the role of Giorgetta, the captain's wife. There is no famous aria in this opera, but you should listen to the music like which the captain who suspects his young wife of adultery attacks one after another unrelentingly.
