TAKADA Tomohiro, the winner of the MIURA Tamaki Special Prize in the 4th Mt. Fuji International Opera Competition of Shizuoka (held in 2005), will appear in the following performance.

Since the opening of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center, this Center's "Madama Butterfly" has been performed many times and devotedly by the performers and staff. This year's "Madama Butterfly" is a re-staging of the production directed by the late KURIYAMA Masayoshi, who passed away in June 2023, when it was staged first in 2006. Artistic Director of this Center, SADO Yutaka, who will produce the performance, said, "'Madama Butterfly' was the important opera that made the audience look forward to the opera by the Hyogo Performing Arts Center. This performance means a memorial to Mr. KURIYAMA."

Mr. TAKADA, who will perform the role of Sharpless in this performance, is a baritone holding the title of court singer ("Kammersänger" in German) in Germany. He was active at the Theater Kiel in Germany and is currently a resident singer at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Germany.
