JO Hironori will appear in the opera “Der fliegende Holländer” this September, also by the Tokyo Nikikai. JO, who is currently very active in Japan, will perform Don José in Bizet's opera “Carmen” as a first role in 2025. He has also performed Don José in the grand opera co-production “Carmen” held from October 2019 to January 2020 at Kanagawa Kenmin Hall, Aichi Prefectural Art Theatre, and Sapporo Cultural Arts Theatre, where KATO Nozomi, a mezzo-soprano active in Japan and abroad, appeared with different dates. This time, she will perform as Carmen with the same group as JO. He has experienced many stages and roles in the past five years, and we hope you will enjoy his textured performance of Don José.

“Carmen” features well-known songs such as ‘Habanera,’ ‘Air de la fleur,’ and ‘Couplets du toréador’ which everyone knows. For this performance, OKISAWA Nodoka, who was acclaimed by the late OZAWA Seiji and has been appointed as the principal guest conductor of the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival from 2024, and Irina BROOK, the daughter of the late British director, Peter BROOK, will join forces to direct.
