Professor Tetsuo Kuramoto’s expertise in teacher education encompasses school management and leadership, curriculum, and teaching methods. His research interests are equally diverse, ranging from school-based curriculum management, classroom research, knowledge management/leadership, service learning, and action research/Ed.D. programs. His primary research focuses on the conceptual structure of lesson study, school-based curriculum management, and the educational effects of action research, demonstrating his broad knowledge and expertise in the field.
His primary professional experience includes serving as a chief professor at Yokohama National University (including Aichi University of Education and Saga National University) in the master’s and doctoral courses of the teacher training program. He has also held significant leadership roles, such as a council of the Japan Association of Professional Schools for Teacher Education (JAPTE), the Japan Society for Curriculum Studies (JACS), and the Japan Association of American Educational Studies (JAAES), which underscore his influence and authority in education.
He has actively contributed to the National Institute for Educational Policy Research (NITS) and prefectural boards of education and education centers. He has also served as the national evaluation committee chair for the Teacher Master’s Program at the Ministry of Education (MEXT). In addition, he has served as an examiner for overseas doctoral Ed.D. programs and is often invited to give lectures and take part in projects overseas.
